The food
at Aquavit

Guests at Aquavit London can enjoy a smörgåsbord of small sharing plates that celebrates the Nordic region’s traditional seafood dishes, including Shrimp Skagen, Herrings, Gravlax, and Vendace roe. The menu will also offer starters such as Venison tartare with wild blueberries, lingonberries and juniper as well as main courses including Turbot and Swedish meatballs.

Furthermore, Aquavit London offer guests to indulge in the Swedish tradition of fika throughout the day with coffee from Johan & Nyström and freshly-baked cinnamon rolls.

Nordic beverages

Aquavit London offers an exclusive selection of aquavit snaps, a flavoured spirit that is principally produced in Scandinavia since the 15th century.

The aquavit gets its distinctive flavour from spices and herbs such as cumin and dill. In Scandinavian countries it is traditionally associated with celebrations, particularly Christmas, Easter or crayfish dinners. It is usually paired with food and you drink it as a shot during meals, especially during the appetizer course.

At Aquavit London you also find a cocktail list, celebrating classic recipes that all have their very own Nordic twist, such as Scandi Mule, Bergen Bitter, Nordfjord and Kalhygge.

Ostindia, voted “Service of the Century” in Sweden, owes its existence to hidden treasure. After a ship returning from China sank off Gothenburg in 1746 a fragment of china from the cargo somehow ended up in a cupboard at the Rörstrand factory. Many years later in 1932 factory manager Knut Almström’s wife spotted it and uttered the famous words, “Knut, I think it might be worth making something out of this…”. And so a shard of Chinese porcelain became the model for an iconic Rörstrand design.

Johan & Nyström was founded by a group of coffee-loving friends with the vision of a better coffee world. Their mission is to promote the craft by roasting tastier, more fun and more sustainable coffee. It’s not a job, it is a lifestyle and a passion. Of vast silent landscapes and raw seasons, of cosy shared moments and quiet sophistication.

Skandinavisk was created by two English gentlemen, Shaun and Gerry, who fell in love with two blonde Scandinavian girls 15 years ago and never left Scandinavia. After living in Copenhagen and Stockholm they gradually also fell in love with the Scandinavian way of life and they believe that the absolute essence of Scandinavian living is in the colour, scent, light and warmth of a flickering candle flame and a glow that not only burrows deep through the wax, but one which nourishes the soul too. You can see and smell the Skandinavisk fragrance sticks and candles at Aquavit.
